Dearest Betty (aka Helen / Gemmi)

I was thinking of you last week, aware that it was approaching the 5th anniversary of losing you. Just mulling over how things have panned out; remembering you being with me for my first pregnancy scan and, whilst I was having my consultation, suggesting to me that we go for a cup of tea afterwards. Then nipping off for a cup of tea while I was in labour. I saw the tears in your eyes as Eliot was born and the tears in his as he said his final goodbye to you. He’s 22 now and a strapping Metropolitan Police officer. He recently asked me for this photo of you and him in his police car. I have no doubt that your steadfast input in Eliot’s upbringing has had a massive influence on the person he has turned out to be.

Steve and I have recently had our 8 year anniversary and it was good to know that he always had your seal of approval. I trust you’ve told my mum all about Steve and Eliot.
